Chairman Son Byung-hwan Enters the 'Metaverse Era'... Establishes NH Financial TF
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] NongHyup Financial Group is systematically promoting various attempts to integrate the metaverse into NongHyup’s business and provide customers with new digital experiences.
According to NongHyup Financial on the 15th, Chairman Byunghwan Son held a ‘Metaverse Townhall Meeting’ with affiliate employees last July and urged them to continuously pay attention to the metaverse and study the possibility of commercialization.
At the time, Chairman Son said, "Many experts predict that the era of the metaverse will come after smartphones," adding, "NongHyup Financial must also create new business opportunities and actively respond to changes in customers."
NongHyup Financial quickly acted on Chairman Son’s instructions. They established a ‘Metaverse Task Force (TF)’ within the Digital Strategy Department of the financial holding company to review the direction of metaverse promotion and derive tasks for each affiliate.
Affiliates of NongHyup Financial are also preparing various experiments to enhance marketing and customer experience through the metaverse. NongHyup Bank and NH Investment & Securities, the representative subsidiaries of NongHyup Financial, plan to build their own platforms and directly test the potential for success as financial platforms.
NH Investment & Securities, which is preparing the fastest, plans to launch the industry’s first proprietary metaverse platform by the end of October. The plan is to realistically implement the Yeouido Park One new office building and enable MZ generation customers to experience investment more easily through avatar-based conference participation.
NongHyup Bank plans to form a consortium with participants from various industries to experiment with a new type of financial platform. They aim to complete preliminary preparations by the end of October and start building the platform with a goal to open in the first half of next year. NongHyup Insurance and NH Savings Bank plan to create their own maps on the metaverse platform Zepeto to explore possibilities for customer communication and marketing.
