Gyeongnam Province Discusses Key Western Region Projects Strategies Including Aerospace and Anti-Aging
Gyeongsangnam-do held an interim report meeting for a research project aimed at establishing a development strategy for Western Gyeongnam.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 14th, Gyeongsangnam-do held an interim report meeting to review the progress of the 'Research Service for the Development Strategy and Performance Expansion of Western Gyeongnam.'
This service, which has been underway since May, aims to establish a development strategy by strengthening the regional ecosystem and expanding the scope of key strategic industries in Western Gyeongnam, as well as linking major regional development plans and key projects in the western area.
To produce efficient and practical results from the service, since June, the province has formed and supported a working group of 34 experts across four fields, including the General Subcommittee and the Innovation City Subcommittee.
The report meeting proceeded with the Gyeongnam Research Institute, the executing agency, presenting the interim results by major tasks prepared so far and future plans, followed by discussions and collection of opinions from attendees.
The presentation discussed detailed project strategies by major tasks, including the strategy to establish regional industry hubs linked to public institutions relocated to Gyeongnam Innovation City and foster a super-regional industry-academia-research cluster, the promotion of aerospace parts and materials industries and new industries linked to the Jinju Small Giant Special Zone, and the linkage and derivation of major projects in the western region based on mid- to long-term development plans.

Lee In-sook, Director of the Western Balanced Development Bureau of the province, said, "In this service, we will reflect the opinions of related experts as much as possible to ensure that key strategic industries in Western Gyeongnam, such as the aerospace industry and anti-aging industry, become highly executable projects," adding, "We hope that development strategy projects will be evenly discovered across the 10 cities and counties in the western region."
