Seongsu-dong Commercial District Social Big Data Major Keywords and Mention Volume
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is actively moving forward this month to promote social big data analysis of the district to discover new policy demands.
In line with the growing dominance of SNS (Social Network Services) media, which has become more active through non-face-to-face services since COVID-19, a plan has been prepared to collect data related to Seongdong-gu within social networks and utilize the related materials for policy purposes.
In particular, since data related to Seongsu-dong accounts for a large proportion of Seongdong-gu’s associated data, the district has designed a system to derive materials using optimal keywords related to the Seongsu-dong commercial area such as cafes, to check positive or negative images of the area, the volume of mentions, and keywords mentioned, thereby clearly understanding the reality of the region.
Additionally, by analyzing the timing of policy implementation related to data that becomes an issue over a certain period, the effectiveness of policies can be confirmed, and administrative demand and timing for policy input can be predicted.
The district has focused on researching and developing customized policies for the 2030 generation youth, known as the ‘MZ generation,’ who, along with single-person households, make up the largest proportion of single-person households in the region.
Since this generation shows high interest in activities through social networks and various issues, the district plans to actively discover administrative demands by accompanying them.
The data will be collected and constructed through understanding the status of big data types and visualization by the end of this year, analyzed, and then loaded onto Seongdong-gu’s internal big data platform. It is expected to be actively discovered and utilized as a new field of administration, such as regional commercial area revitalization, which has been difficult to uncover until now.
In May, the district enacted the ‘Ordinance on the Activation of Data-Based Administration’ and the ‘Ordinance on the Use of Big Data,’ establishing an institutional foundation to bring about data-driven administrative innovation and building a systematic big data integrated management system. By fully utilizing this system, it is expected that social big data will be fused with various public and private data to create administrative synergy.
