Establishment of a Culture, Sports, and Electric Multi-Energy Charging Center in Gonghang-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul
Gangseo-gu Selected for '2022 Living SOC Complex Project', Secures 8 Billion KRW National Funding... Sports Center, Library, Electric Vehicle Parking Lot and Large-scale Charging Station Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] A complex facility that brings together life-oriented social infrastructure will be established in Gonghang-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song).
The district announced that it participated in the ‘2022 Life SOC Complex Project Contest’ hosted by the Office for Government Policy Coordination with the ‘Culture, Sports, and Electric Complex Energy Charging Center Establishment Project’ and was finally selected, securing 8 billion KRW in national funding.
This is the largest amount of national funding secured among the total 92 projects selected nationwide in this contest.
The Life SOC Complex Project is a project to build life-oriented social infrastructure facilities that enhance the convenience of citizens in daily life?such as childcare, medical care, welfare, transportation, cultural and sports facilities, and parks?on a single site as a single or linked facility.
The district plans to establish the ‘Culture, Sports, and Electric Complex Energy Charging Center’ at 687-15 Gonghang-dong, with a total project cost of approximately 26.9 billion KRW, including the 8 billion KRW in national funding secured this time.
The area in Gonghang-dong where the center will be built is adjacent to Gimpo Airport and has been subject to various architectural restrictions, making it a region that has been excluded from the center of development until now.
Also, compared to surrounding areas such as Magok-dong, Banghwa-dong, and Hwagok-dong, life infrastructure facilities were insufficient, resulting in low resident satisfaction.
Accordingly, the district actively participated in the ‘2022 Life SOC Complex Project Contest’ to improve residents’ living convenience and achieved this result.
The ‘Culture, Sports, and Electric Complex Energy Charging Center’ applied for by the district boasts a considerable scale with 5 floors above ground and 3 basement levels (total floor area approximately 7,000㎡).
The center will include a national sports center and a public library for residents, an electric vehicle-only parking lot, and a large-scale charging station.
The district plans to proceed with the project aiming to start construction in March 2023 and complete it by December 2024, beginning with the establishment of the mid-term financial plan this year.
