View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), conveyed congratulatory remarks to Fumio Kishida (岸田 文雄), the new Prime Minister of Japan, expressing expectations for a new Korea-Japan cooperative relationship.
The KCCI announced on the 3rd that Chairman Choi sent a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Kishida, stating, "I hope we can benchmark each other's strengths and overcome many challenges in the bilateral relationship together."
Chairman Choi also mentioned his hopes for the new Korea-Japan cooperation that Prime Minister Kishida will bring. He said, "I expect the new Prime Minister to further expand cooperation between the two countries for a new Korea-Japan relationship," adding, "Once the COVID-19 situation settles, I hope businesspeople from both countries can visit each other to continue discussions on promoting friendship and economic cooperation."
Woo Tae-hee, Executive Vice Chairman of the KCCI, emphasized, "When various dialogue and cooperation channels between Korea and Japan are activated, it benefits the stability and economy of both sides."
He continued, "Businesspeople from Korea and Japan have moved beyond government-centered cooperation such as financial cooperation in the 1960s-70s, technological cooperation in the 1980s, and currency cooperation in the 1990s. Based on rational business judgment, we will strive to continue private-sector exchanges in the post-COVID-19 era."
