Wando-gun Develops Marine Healing Meals with Healthy Food

View original image[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 1st that it has completed the "Marine Healing Table Guide Development Project" and developed the "Marine Healing Table," which captures the healthy flavors of clean Wando, including abalone seaweed tteokgalbi and colorful barley seaweed rice.
A study published in April in "Marine Drugs," a globally authoritative academic journal in the field of marine medicine, revealed that extracts from abalone intestines and seaweeds such as tot, cheonggak, kelp, and sea mustard are effective in inhibiting the penetration of the COVID-19 virus.
Accordingly, the marine healing table was composed using ingredients from Wando, including abalone seaweed tteokgalbi with abalone intestines and tot, colorful barley seaweed rice with abalone intestine sauce, tot, sea mustard, and colorful barley, seasonal steamed fish, kimchi soup, seaweed salad, seaweed jeon (pancake), seaweed radish wraps, and Wando fruit beverages.
The development of the marine healing table guide was promoted by the Wando-gun Agricultural Technology Center (Director Lee Bok-seon). Midam Food Service Startup Research Institute, the president of the Wando Our Food Research Association, and the local restaurant Moraetteul devoted great effort over six months to create a table that helps improve immunity and promotes physical and mental health using Wando food ingredients.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center stated, "In the final evaluation, opinions were expressed that marine healing, which heals the mind and body using marine resources such as the marine climate, seawater, and sea breeze in the pristine nature of Wando, and eating marine healing food would be perfect for maintaining health."
The Wando marine healing table will be available from the 5th at Moraetteul (scheduled to be designated as Marine Healing Table Branch No. 1). Since only 50 servings are prepared daily with fresh ingredients, a reservation at least one hour in advance is essential.
The county plans to distribute the marine healing table guide to the Marine Healing Center, scheduled to be completed next year, and to hopeful dining establishments to establish the marine healing table as a representative dish of Wando and to continuously expand marine healing table restaurants.
Meanwhile, the main menu of the marine healing table, "Abalone Seaweed Tteokgalbi," won the Minister's Award at the 22nd Korea International Culinary Competition held in May (participated by Moraetteul representative Choi Seon-yi).
