Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology announced on the 1st that Lee Ok-ran (age 50) and Moon Sun-mi (age 45) have passed the 70th Miyongjang exam.
The Miyongjang is the highest qualification in the beauty field, recognizing top-level skilled techniques and leadership abilities.
For the 70th regular master craftsman beauty exam, 197 candidates nationwide took the test, with only 26 passing, resulting in a very stringent national technical qualification exam with a pass rate of just 13%.
Lee Ok-ran and Moon Sun-mi prepared for the Miyongjang exam through the 'Hair Beauty (Skill) Master' program, an education course supported by the Ministry of Education’s Specialized College Innovation Support Project (Type III), and their passing this exam has proven their skills.
Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology, which produced two Miyongjang this time, has maintained its top-tier reputation as a hair beauty-related educational institution by producing a total of 20 Miyongjang passers from 2014 to 2021.
Lee Ok-ran, who runs Maria Beauty Salon in Goryeong, Gyeongbuk, said, “I challenged the Miyongjang exam on the recommendation of instructor Hong Sung-hee, who is known as a Miyongjang graduate and a master of Miyongjang cultivation,” adding, “Thanks to the support from Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology’s Lifelong Vocational Education Innovation Project Group and instructor Hong’s systematic education, I was able to pass.”
Moon Sun-mi, who runs Igaja Hairvis in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, said, “I am happy to have obtained the Miyongjang, which was my dream, in just two years,” and expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank instructor Hong for respecting the trainees and providing detailed guidance through personalized education.”
The Lifelong Vocational Education Innovation Project Group operates learner-tailored vocational education programs that meet regional lifelong vocational education demands, such as international sign language interpretation courses and bilingual instructor training for multicultural families, and is innovating as an adult learner-friendly educational institution by establishing industry-academia-government governance within the Daegu area.
Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology will select 2,071 new students, about 94.4% of the total recruitment quota, in the 2022 academic year early admission.
Early admission first successful candidates receive a 50% tuition scholarship, and additional successful candidates receive a scholarship of 1 million KRW. The school has lowered the application threshold and matched student expectations by newly establishing 11 departments including Global Food Service Industry, Fashion Live Commerce, Cinema School, introducing a self-recommendation screening, and allowing up to three multiple applications regardless of department or screening type.
