Yoon Seok-yeol Again Caught in Controversy... Mentioned "If You Don't Know About Housing Subscription Savings, You Have Dementia"
Yoo Seung-min "Proves Himself as a 'Daily Controversy' Candidate"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoon Seok-yeol, former Prosecutor General and presidential candidate of the People Power Party, has once again become embroiled in controversy over his remarks related to the 'housing subscription savings account.' His rivals within the party criticized him as a 'one-controversy-a-day' candidate.
On the 29th, Yoon appeared on the YouTube channel program ‘Seokyeol Hyung TV’ and stated, “No one can be unaware of the subscription savings account,” adding, “If you don’t know about the housing subscription savings account, you are almost like a dementia patient.”
Previously, Yoon had mentioned in a broadcast debate that “I have never created a housing subscription savings account because I don’t own a house,” which led to criticism questioning whether he was unfamiliar with the subscription savings account itself.
Yoon also said, “Apartment suppliers are supposed to receive subscriptions and then allocate units accordingly, but since some have withheld portions and such incidents have occurred quite often, no one can be unaware of the subscription savings account,” adding, “Providing gossip is also part of a politician’s service spirit, isn’t it?”
This remark was intended to dispel the controversy that arose during the debate, but ultimately led to a new controversy accusing him of disparaging dementia patients.
Following the controversy, Yoon’s campaign team took down the video.
