Yongsan-gu, 11th Cheongbaek Public Official Selection and Registration... Candidate Recommendations Accepted Until October 15... Open to All Yongsan Residents... One Grand Prize and One Main Prize Winner Each, Awarded 2 Million KRW and Priority Placement in Desired Department
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjang Hyun) is accepting nominations for the 11th Cheongbaek Public Official Award until October 15.
The award aims to discover and honor public officials who serve the residents with integrity and dedication, thereby enhancing the pride of public servants and fostering a trustworthy public service culture among residents.
Nominees must be public officials working at Yongsan-gu Office or the 16 local community service centers under its jurisdiction. Nominations can be made for officials who handle civil affairs fairly and transparently, strive to protect citizens' rights, and contribute to creating a sound public service environment.
Any Yongsan resident can participate. Those wishing to exercise their nomination rights should complete the candidate nomination form and submit it by mail, fax, or email within the deadline. The nomination form and further details are available on the district’s official website.
Internal recommendations by department (dong) heads are also accepted. However, public officials currently under disciplinary investigation or who have received disciplinary action with records not yet expunged are excluded from nomination.
After receiving nominations, the district will conduct document screening, public verification, fact-checking of achievements, and evaluation by the Cheongbaek Public Official Award Committee. The committee consists of up to 12 experts who decide the awardees and their ranks.
One grand prize winner and one main prize winner will be selected. Awardees will receive a cash prize of up to 2 million KRW and preferential placement in their desired department. Considering the COVID-19 situation, the awards ceremony will be held at the year-end closing ceremony.
Mayor Seongjang Hyun of Yongsan-gu stated, “Among the many duties public officials must uphold, ‘integrity’ is undoubtedly the foremost virtue. We ask for the residents’ active interest and participation in selecting Cheongbaek public officials to make the public service more transparent.”
