Jangseong-gun to Open 'Hwangryonggang Yellow Flower Market' Starting Next Month
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 28th that starting next month, the ‘Hwangryonggang Yellow Flower Market’ will open for one month at the ecological park parking lot.
The Yellow Flower Market is a direct transaction market where local farmers sell agricultural and specialty products they have grown themselves. It is operated in a public-private partnership format with participation from the Jangseong-gun Returning Farmers and Migrants Association, Jangseong Distribution Business Group, and Samchae Cooperative, among others.
It is noteworthy that the tourism demand for Hwangryonggang, which has continued steadily despite the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, has been linked to expanding sales channels for agricultural products.
From the consumer’s perspective, satisfaction is high as they can purchase high-quality agricultural products at reasonable prices.
During the first opening period in the first half of this year, sales reached approximately 40 million KRW over five weeks.
At this Yellow Flower Market, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of products including seasonal fruits such as apples, grapes, and jujubes, as well as dried vegetables, honey, tomatoes, and more.
The market operates on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
An official from the county stated, “With 1 billion autumn flowers such as celosia and yellow cosmos beautifully decorating Hwangryonggang, we expect more customers to visit the Yellow Flower Market,” adding, “We will operate it solidly to help increase farmers’ income.”
Meanwhile, the county achieved a great success as both the Hwangryonggang Yellow Flower Market and Jangseongho Waterfront Market were selected as project targets in the ‘2021 Regular Direct Transaction Market Support Project’ contest hosted by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation.
