The commendation ceremony was organized to encourage contributors who have contributed to the spread of gender equality culture and the promotion of women's rights and interests, as well as the development of the local community in commemoration of Gender Equality Week. This year's awardees include Kim Im-jeom from the Korean Red Cross Jinju District Council and 23 others.
This year's Gender Equality Week commemorative event was held in a simplified manner with only a minimum number of attendees, including gender equality contributors, strictly adhering to quarantine rules due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the implementation of social distancing level 3.

Mayor Cho Gyu-il of Jinju, who presented the awards, said, "I thank the awardees who contributed to the promotion of women's rights and the expansion of social participation despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to make tireless efforts to create an equal Jinju where humanity takes precedence over the distinction between women and men."
