Vice Chairwoman Meng is scheduled to arrive in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, on the evening of the same day aboard a Chinese government chartered plane, accompanied by staff from the Chinese Embassy in Canada and others seeing her off. Chinese state media reported that she expressed gratitude while on board. Meng said, "I will soon be embraced by the arms of my great motherland," adding, "Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, our motherland is moving toward prosperity and development. Without a strong motherland, I would not have my freedom today." She also stated, "Having grown up during the reform and opening-up period, I have personally experienced the greatness of China and its people under the leadership of the Communist Party," and after mentioning "prosperity, development," and "common prosperity," she expressed thanks to the motherland, the Communist Party, and the government.
