Seodaemun-gu Special Cleanup of Illegal Advertisements During Chuseok Holiday
Political Parties and Politicians' 'Holiday Greetings' Illegal Banners Also Being Removed
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will conduct a special cleanup of illegal banners that harm the urban landscape and citizen safety from the 18th to the 22nd, coinciding with the Chuseok holiday period.
The cleanup targets banners, signboards, and air lights (balloon advertisements) that threaten pedestrian safety and obstruct drivers' visibility.
Illegal banners displaying ‘holiday greetings’ from political parties and politicians are also included in the cleanup, and a zero-tolerance policy will be applied to remove any violations without exception.
This is because these banners could raise issues of fairness compared to commercial banners.
The district will collect unauthorized illegal advertisements found and impose administrative measures such as fines and legal actions simultaneously.
Seodaemun-gu regularly conducts continuous patrols and on-site cleanups of illegal advertisements regardless of weekdays or weekends.
Accordingly, in the joint inspections of illegal banners conducted year-round by Seoul City and each autonomous district, Seodaemun-gu recorded the lowest number of 11 violations from January to August this year, ranking first among the 25 districts.
