[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] On the 16th, Hwang Junhyun, Chief of the Seogwipo Maritime Police Station, conducted frontline field inspections in preparation for the northward approach of Typhoon Chanthu, the 14th typhoon, and the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
According to Seogwipo Maritime Police on that day, Chief Hwang visited Seongsan Port and Seongsan Passenger Terminal to check the typhoon response posture, including the safety status of port and harbor facilities and sheltering vessels, and inspected safety management practices in response to the increase in users of ferries and passenger ships during the Chuseok holiday.
Chief Hwang met with on-site officers at the police substation to listen to their difficulties and ordered thorough preparation for typhoon response. He then visited Seongsan Passenger Terminal to conduct inspection activities on vessels used by large numbers of people during the Chuseok holiday.
Chief Hwang Junhyun said, “With the typhoon approaching ahead of the Chuseok holiday, thorough preparation is necessary. Since Seogwipo is the area closest to the typhoon, above all, please strengthen preventive measures and safety inspections to ensure that there is no loss of life or property damage to the public.”
