Jeongeup-si Launches 'Price Stabilization Campaign' for Chuseok
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jinseop) announced on the 16th that it conducted a "Price Stabilization Citizen Campaign" to establish a sound consumption culture ahead of Chuseok, the traditional Korean holiday.
This campaign was carried out to encourage sound and rational consumption and to promote the revitalization of the local economy through the use of traditional markets.
The city, together with members of the Jeongeup branch of the Korea Women Consumers Association consumer group, monitored price trends of 16 key items among Chuseok seasonal products such as fruits and agricultural and marine products.
They also urged citizens to purchase local agricultural products and appealed for participation in price stabilization and local economic revitalization.
The city plans to operate a comprehensive "Price Countermeasure Situation Room" for the Chuseok holiday until the 22nd and organize four teams focusing on personal service industries, agricultural products, livestock products, and others to closely manage prices.
They will also establish proper distribution transaction order and foster a rational consumption culture by conducting special inspections of the price labeling system, which provides consumers with accurate price information.
Mayor Yoo Jinseop said, "Although everyone is having a hard time due to COVID-19, we will do our best to manage holiday price stabilization so that Chuseok can be safe and comfortable," and added, "We ask for active use and cooperation of the local commercial district to revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, the Consumer Counseling Center of the Jeongeup branch of the Korea Women Consumers Association contributes to establishing a sound commercial order by protecting consumer rights and strengthening damage relief through receiving and processing consumer complaints.
