Gwangju Nam-gu, Full Operation of Testing Clinics During Chuseok Holiday
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byung-nae) will operate screening clinics at full capacity during the Chuseok holiday to allow COVID-19 diagnostic testing.
Additionally, to establish herd immunity, vaccinations will be administered to residents who have made reservations on the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the 18th, and the last day, the 22nd.
Nam-gu announced on the 16th, "To maintain a seamless quarantine system related to COVID-19 during the Chuseok holiday, we will deploy an additional 20 personnel to operate the Nam-gu screening clinic set up at the former Veterans Hospital without any days off."
Currently, 70 employees from the public health center work at the Nam-gu screening clinic 365 days a year, and during the Chuseok holiday period, 20 additional employees from the main office are being deployed to support the operation of the screening clinic in preparation for the COVID-19 situation.
For efficient management of diagnostic tests and rapid diagnosis, electronic questionnaires that input various information by scanning a QR code with the smartphone of the COVID-19 test taker are being actively utilized.
Along with this, to firmly establish herd immunity within the local community, vaccinations will continue at the COVID-19 vaccination center set up at the Jinwol-dong Multipurpose Gymnasium.
Vaccinations will be conducted for 500 people each on the 18th and 22nd.
Vaccinations will mainly be administered to residents aged 19 to 49 within the district who have made prior reservations, and local government second-phase voluntary vaccination candidates will also receive vaccines on these dates.
A Nam-gu official stated, "Even during the Chuseok holiday, if you have suspected symptoms of COVID-19, please visit the Nam-gu screening clinic at any time, and we will do our best to operate the vaccination center to create a safe community free from COVID-19."
