Boseong-gun, Vaccination Rate 87.6%... Ranked No.1 Nationwide
Government Surpasses Daily Recovery Target of 70%
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced on the 15th that the COVID-19 vaccination rate (first dose) surpassed 87.6% as of the previous day.
According to the announcement by Jeollanam-do on the 9th, Jeollanam-do was the first in the nation to achieve a 70% vaccination rate, and Boseong-gun was identified as the region with the highest vaccination rate among the 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do.
Accordingly, Boseong-gun is currently ranked first in vaccination rate in Jeollanam-do, effectively showing the highest vaccination rate nationwide.
The current vaccination rates by age group in Boseong-gun are 93.5% for those aged 75 and older, 95.1% for those in their 60s, and 91.1% for those in their 50s. The young adult group aged 18 to 49, which began vaccination on the 26th of last month, has recorded a rate of 71.5%.
The completion rate is also 66.3%, and after achieving the government's target of 70% first-dose vaccination rate for daily life recovery, the second-dose vaccination rate is expected to soon reach 70% as well.
Boseong-gun's high vaccination rate is also playing a significant role in quarantine efforts.
The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Boseong-gun is 26, which is the seventh lowest nationwide.
In particular, no confirmed cases have occurred among those who have completed vaccination, and there have been no Nth infection cases within the last two months.
In the case of Boseong #19 confirmed patient, infection did not spread among family members or village residents who shared meals, and in the case where a family of four residing in Asan City who visited their grandparents' house in Boseong-gun were confirmed positive, the grandmother, a Boseong resident who had completed vaccination, was not infected, demonstrating the effectiveness of vaccination.
A county official stated, “Vaccination must precede to block community transmission of COVID-19 and to restore daily life,” adding, “This is the result of active participation by residents and various administrative supports.”
The county set its own goal of achieving 80%, higher than the government’s target of 70% for herd immunity formation against COVID-19, and has been thorough from the early stages of vaccination. It also became the first in the nation to enact an ordinance related to incentives for COVID-19 vaccination, providing an incentive of 20,000 KRW per person to those who have completed vaccination starting July 1.
