Suncheon City Hosts International Photo Contest of Hooded Cranes
Connecting the Skyway of Peace for Hooded Cranes in Suncheon Sijo, Suncheonman, and North Korea Mundeok Migratory Bird Protection Area
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 15th that it will hold the "Black Crane International Photo Contest" as part of the Lumi Sky Path Connection Project.
Hosted by Suncheon City and organized by Dadae Makers Co., Ltd., and sponsored by the International Crane Foundation, East Asia-Australasia Flyway Partnership, Hans Seidel Foundation Korea Office, and East Asia Ramsar Regional Center, this contest is held under the theme "Black Crane, Connecting the Sky Path of Peace."
Anyone around the world who loves black cranes can participate, and photos expressing the beauty of black cranes and their habitats, which are found in Korea, North Korea, China, Japan, Russia, Mongolia, and other regions, are eligible for submission.
Photos must be at least 3000 pixels on the long side, and each person can submit up to three photos. Entries can be submitted via email or through the contest website by October 29.
The city will award prizes after expert judging: ▲Grand Prize (1 person) 3 million KRW ▲Gold Prize (6 persons) 2 million KRW ▲Silver Prize (5 persons) 1 million KRW ▲Bronze Prize (5 persons) 700,000 KRW ▲Honorable Mentions (33 persons), with a total prize money of 23.5 million KRW. The winning works will be exhibited on a touring basis starting in Korea at the end of the year and then in other countries.
Meanwhile, the "Lumi Sky Path Connection Project" is a Suncheon-type Northeast Asia ecological peace project that uses the black crane, the city bird of Suncheon, which migrates along the borderless sky path, as a peace messenger.
