[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office (Director Ryu Yeon-gi) announced on the 15th that it detected 12 locations, including highway rest areas, during a special inspection of private sewage treatment facilities at multi-use facilities.
This inspection was conducted from July 26 to August 31 targeting private sewage treatment facilities at multi-use facilities such as highway rest areas, golf courses, campgrounds, and recreational forests, where a surge in visitors was expected during the vacation season.
The main violations included 14 cases across various fields such as exceeding discharge water quality standards, non-compliance with private sewage treatment facility technical manager requirements (false entries in operation logs), and violations of waste disposal standards. A total of 12 violating businesses were identified.
The Yeongsangang Environmental Office plans to investigate the severity of violations among the detected businesses and refer cases requiring judicial action to the competent prosecution office. For those subject to administrative penalties such as fines, the relevant local governments have been notified to ensure immediate improvement.
Ryu Yeon-gi, Director of the Yeongsangang Environmental Office, stated, "We will do our best to encourage proper treatment of large amounts of water pollutants generated at multi-use facilities during the vacation season to maintain a pleasant surrounding environment."
