[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will build the 'Gyeongancheon Ecological Environment Experience Education Center' (tentative name) above the sewage treatment facility at 3-4 Yuun-ri, Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu.
The Ecological Environment Experience Education Center, which will serve as a comprehensive environmental education center, will have a total floor area of 3,300㎡ and consist of three above-ground floors, including environmental education rooms, ecological experience rooms, and solar power generation facilities.
A total project cost of 13.8 billion KRW will be invested, with construction starting in January 2024 and completion targeted for December 2025.
Yongin City secured 6.9 billion KRW, half of the project cost, by being selected for the special resident support project of the Hangang River Basin Environmental Office for next year.
The city plans to utilize the environmental education center as a hub facility for environmental education linked with the Gyeongancheon urban forest and Galdam ecological forest, and develop it as a local attraction so that nearby Everland tourists can also visit.
