Gwangju Nam-gu Council Member Seo Im-seok "Payment of Support Funds for Fire Victims"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The 'Nam-gu Fire Victim Support Ordinance,' jointly proposed by Nam-gu Council members Seo Im-seok and Hwang Kyung-ah of Gwangju Metropolitan City, was passed by the Social Construction Committee on the 13th.
According to the ordinance, recipients of basic living security who have suffered damage to their primary residence due to a fire occurring within Nam-gu are eligible. The address must also be within Nam-gu jurisdiction.
The support amount is up to 4 million KRW for total destruction of a general house and up to 2 million KRW for partial destruction. However, if the house is owned by the victim, 100% of the amount is supported, and if the victim rents the house, only 50% is provided.
Additionally, if fire victims find it difficult to temporarily reside in residential facilities, the ordinance stipulates that temporary accommodations such as lodging facilities may be provided.
Council member Seo Im-seok stated, "Through the enactment of this ordinance, it is expected to contribute to the psychological recovery, housing, and living stability of vulnerable groups affected by fire," and added, "We will continue to carry out legislative activities that carefully consider all aspects of residents' lives."
