Bang & Olufsen Launches Connected Stereo Speaker 'BeoLab 28'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Bang&Olufsen announced on the 13th the launch of the connected stereo speaker ‘Beolab 28’. The Beolab 28 features a slim design with a diameter of 25cm, providing optimal sound for listeners and flexible placement options simultaneously.
The Beolab 28 is equipped with three 3-inch full-range drivers and one 1-inch tweeter in the pillar-shaped upper part, and one 6.5-inch woofer in the lower part, delivering powerful sound of 1250W per set. The ‘Beam Width Control’ function allows adjustment of the sound coverage area by opening and closing the speaker’s outer cover, and the ‘Active Room Compensation’ function analyzes the room environment where the speaker is placed to deliver the best sound. Additionally, ‘Adaptive Bass Linearization’ is applied to prevent sound distortion caused by sudden volume changes.
The speaker has a unique design that appears to float in the air, and when powered on, the outer cover tilts open like a stage curtain. The design was inspired by the ‘Beolab Penta’ released in the 1980s. The aluminum cabinet and inner and outer covers are customizable, and the wood panels are available in five colors: Light Oak, Smoked Oak, Walnut, Gray Melange, and Gray. It can be set up according to the space by standing on the floor using a floor stand or mounting on the wall with a bracket.

Convenience in product operation and wireless connectivity have also been enhanced. Instead of physical buttons, a touch interface is applied on the top plate of the product, and a proximity sensor is built in so that when the user approaches the speaker, the interface lights up and becomes operable. It supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections and allows music playback through Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay 2, and Spotify Connect. It can also be connected to TVs and home theaters to enjoy various content with immersive surround sound. The price is 21.9 million KRW.
