The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the 13th, there were 1,433 new domestic COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 274,415. Of these, 1,409 were locally transmitted and 24 were imported cases.
By region, Seoul reported 554 cases, Gyeonggi 395, and Incheon 151, with the metropolitan area totaling 1,100 cases (78.1%), approaching 80%. The proportion of cases in the metropolitan area has remained in the 70% range for consecutive days, indicating that the outbreak in the metropolitan area is not subsiding.
Non-metropolitan areas reported a total of 309 cases (21.9%), including Chungnam 58, Daejeon 39, Busan 35, Chungbuk 33, Daegu 31, Gyeongbuk 25, Gyeongnam 21, Ulsan 17, Gwangju 14, Gangwon 13, Jeonbuk 10, Jeonnam 5, and Sejong and Jeju with 4 cases each.
Among the 24 imported cases, 10 were detected during quarantine, and the remaining 14 were identified in the community. Nine were Korean nationals and 15 were foreigners. Sixteen cases were confirmed from Asian countries excluding China.
The death toll increased by one the previous day, bringing the total to 2,360, with a fatality rate of 0.86%. The number of critically ill patients is 342.
The number of newly released from isolation increased by 1,046, bringing the total to 245,505.
The number of suspected cases tested was 31,567. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 43,532 tests were conducted, resulting in 337 confirmed cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 10,097 tests were conducted, identifying 41 confirmed cases. The total number of tests conducted was 86,096.
