According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, a total of 1,926 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded nationwide. This is 67 more than the 1,859 cases reported at the same time the previous day.
This is 180 more than the mid-day tally of 1,746 cases on last Wednesday (September 1).
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported that day, the metropolitan area accounted for 1,336 cases (69.4%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 590 cases (30.6%).

The number of confirmed cases in the 2,000 range was the sixth time since the COVID-19 outbreak and the first time in a week since the 1st (2,024 cases).
The fourth wave, which began in early July, has continued for over two months. In particular, the spread in the metropolitan area, where the population is concentrated, has recently intensified again, raising concerns that the scale of the outbreak may grow further.

Looking at the new confirmed cases reported over the past week from the 2nd to that day, the daily numbers were 1,961 → 1,708 → 1,804 → 1,490 → 1,375 → 1,597 → 2,050, averaging 1,712 cases per day.
