LG Uplus Partners with Post Office Altteul Phone to Support Vulnerable Groups' Communication Costs for One Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] LG Uplus announced on the 5th that it will join the 'Communication Sharing' campaign, which supports communication fees for vulnerable groups for one year, together with the Korea Post, Korea Post Public Interest Foundation, and InscoBee.
Accordingly, starting on the 6th, InscoBee will jointly support the communication fees for one year for 1,000 subscribers of the 'Korea Post Alttel Phone Manwonui Haengbok' plan, which is launched for subscribers of the 'Korea Post Manwonui Haengbok Insurance.'
The Korea Post Manwonui Haengbok Insurance is a public interest accident insurance for low-income groups below the near-poverty line as defined by the National Basic Livelihood Security Act.
The Manwonui Haengbok plan is a product that provides a monthly basic fee of 13,200 KRW (including VAT), LTE data of 4GB per month (400Kbps after exhaustion), voice calls (including 100 minutes of additional calls), and text messages as basic services. It will recruit the first 1,000 subscribers from September 6 to 30. These subscribers will receive communication fee support for one year, and from the 13th month, the basic fee will automatically switch to 13,200 KRW.
The four institutions jointly cooperating in Communication Sharing will provide a total of 158.4 million KRW, supporting 158,400 KRW per person for 12 months for 1,000 people. Anyone subscribed to the Korea Post Manwonui Haengbok Insurance can apply at over 1,500 Korea Post branches nationwide.
LG Uplus explained that through this opportunity, it will establish a cooperation model for social contribution with institutions including the Korea Post to help vulnerable customers use communication services without burden, and plans to consider expanding this in the future.
Park Jong-seok, head of the Korea Post, said, “We hope this communication fee support project will provide practical help to vulnerable groups facing economic difficulties. We sincerely thank LG Uplus and other Korea Post Alttel Phone partners participating in this Communication Sharing activity, and we will continue to promote Communication Sharing activities with our partners.”
