On the 26th, the city began accepting vaccination reservations for foreigners, and currently, 386 foreign workers in the area have made reservations. As of the 30th, about 160 have completed their vaccinations.
The city is also issuing temporary management numbers to unregistered foreigners (illegal immigrants) without registration numbers to minimize disadvantages such as crackdowns or deportation, and is facilitating their reservation process.
Currently, vaccinations for foreigners are being administered with the Janssen vaccine for those aged 30 and above, and the Pfizer vaccine for those under 30. Unregistered foreigners who find on-site registration difficult can receive vaccinations at the Vaccination Center (Mokpo Indoor Gymnasium).
Furthermore, to ensure smooth vaccination progress, the city has expanded the vaccination consultation call center from 5 lines to 14 lines.
The call center provides services including ▲ vaccination schedule guidance ▲ pre-vaccination reservations ▲ information on vaccination centers and institutions (designated medical institutions) ▲ pre- and post-vaccination precautions ▲ consultation on adverse reactions and linkage to the adverse reaction management team.
In addition, the city has established an adverse reaction management team to provide thorough consultations regarding adverse reactions following vaccination.
To prevent incorrect vaccinations caused by multiple vaccines at designated medical institutions and to ensure safe vaccine management, five monitoring personnel have been organized to conduct daily monitoring and occasional inspections.
The city plans to deploy and operate interpreters at the vaccination center starting September 1 to facilitate smooth vaccinations for foreign workers residing in the area.
Accordingly, jobs will be provided to marriage immigrant women in the region to support communication in seven languages, including English, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and Russian.
Mayor Kim Jongsik of Mokpo stated, “Prioritizing the health and safety of citizens, Mokpo City will maintain its COVID-19 clean zone through swift vaccine administration and thorough quarantine measures.” He added, “Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases among unregistered foreigners in the region, we have taken these proactive measures to block the spread at its source.”
