"Strengthening AI Talent Development Linked to Local SMEs"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] An AI workforce development expert forum for small and medium-sized enterprises in the Gwangju area was recently held.
According to Honam University on the 27th, the forum took place on the 25th at the IT Square Auditorium of the same university, hosted by Professor Yoon Sang-ok.
In the keynote presentation, Professor Kang Mi-young of Honam University introduced the background and necessity of manufacturing AI workforce development and the direction of manufacturing AI workforce education, emphasizing, "There is a need to diversify AI talent development programs in connection with local SMEs and expand the talent pool."
Following the keynote presentation, a panel discussion was held under the moderation of Professor Lee Yang-won of Honam University, with participants including Choi Yong-guk, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Federation of Science and Technology Societies, Cha Jun-seop, Director of the Smart Talent Development Institute, Professor Na Jong-hoe of Gwangju University, Professor Ryu Gap-sang of Dongshin University, Professor Bae Sang-hyun of Chosun University, and Professor Bang Sang-won of Songwon University.
Cha Jun-seop, Director of the Smart Talent Development Institute, stated, "It is necessary to cultivate regionally settled talents who can remain in the area and for industry-academia-research cooperation to closely collaborate to develop talents suitable for the regional level."
Co-hosted by the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Association, the Korea Information Processing Society Honam Branch, the Jeonnam Information Culture Industry Promotion Agency, and the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Promotion, the event was attended by more than 30 experts in related fields. The Department of Information and Communication Engineering at Honam University was responsible for preparing and conducting the forum.
