[2022 Early Admission] Soongsil University Student Excellence Track Requires Principal Recommendation
Sungkyul University selects 1,786 students (including those beyond the quota), which is 58% of the 2022 academic year recruitment quota, through early admission. This year, the number of recruits for the Comprehensive Student Record Screening and Essay Excellence Screening has decreased, and the Outstanding Student Record Screening now requires a principal's recommendation for application.
The representative early admission track, SSU Future Talent Screening, plans to select 628 students. The first stage is evaluated 100% by document screening (3 times the number of candidates), and the second stage is evaluated with 70% of the first stage score and 30% interview. There is no minimum CSAT score requirement, and the focus is on interest and passion for the major. The Convergence Specialized Liberal Arts Department selects 40 students through this track. After a one-year major exploration period, students can choose a major and a convergence major in their second year.
The Outstanding Student Record Screening selects 474 students and requires a principal's recommendation for application starting this year. However, there is no limit on the number of recommendations. The student record grades are evaluated 100%, the same as last year, but are subdivided into common subjects/general electives (80%) and career elective subjects (20%). The weighted value of student record subjects varies by recruitment unit (department), so applicants should carefully consider their strengths in specific subjects.
The number of recruits for the Essay Excellence Screening has decreased by 11 to 281. The evaluation consists of 60% essay and 40% student record grades, and the essay subject types remain the same as before.
The minimum CSAT score requirement for the Outstanding Student Record Screening and Essay Excellence Screening is a combined grade of 6 or less in two subjects among Korean, Mathematics, and two inquiry subjects for humanities and business-related fields. For natural sciences, it is a combined grade of 7 or less in two subjects among Korean, Mathematics (choose one between Calculus and Geometry), and two science inquiry subjects. For the Convergence Specialized Liberal Arts Department, it is a combined grade of 7 or less in two subjects among Korean, Mathematics (choose one between Calculus and Geometry), and two inquiry subjects. To simplify the screening process, teacher recommendations have been abolished.
