[2022 Early Admission] Sogang University Allows Cross-Application for All Early Admission Types
Sogang University will recruit 988 students through the 2022 academic year early admission. The proportion of early admission including those beyond the quota is 58.7%, which is 10 percentage points lower than last year. This year, a new Student Record Screening track has been established. By admission type, 172 students will be selected through the Student Record Screening, 549 through the Comprehensive Student Record Screening (General), 72 through the Equal Opportunity track, 26 through the Social Integration track, and 169 through the Essay (General) track.
Applications for early admission will be accepted from 10:00 AM on September 10 to 6:00 PM on September 13. Cross-application is allowed for all early admission tracks, and multiple applications across different tracks are also permitted. The newly established Student Record Screening (High School Principal Recommendation) track requires applicants to be prospective graduates of domestic high schools with at least four semesters of grades and to have a recommendation from their high school principal (up to 10 students per school). The evaluation reflects 90% of the student record grades and 10% of the non-academic records quantitatively. Due to COVID-19, all applicants will receive full marks for non-academic records.
The minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) score requirements have also been relaxed. Applicants must meet the criteria of being within grade 3 in three out of four subjects (Korean, Math, English, and one subject from Social Studies/Science/Vocational Education) and within grade 4 in Korean History. The Comprehensive Student Record Screening, which accounts for the largest portion of early admission, does not apply the minimum CSAT score requirement and selects candidates 100% based on documents. Only the school life record book needs to be submitted. The Comprehensive Student Record Screening track is operated as a single track combining last year’s first and second Comprehensive Student Record Screening tracks. The document evaluation reflects 50% academic ability (10% academic attitude and will, 40% achievement level), 20% personality, and 30% growth potential.
The General track does not include interviews and selects students by major. The Comprehensive Student Record Screening track has a high yield rate due to many overlapping admissions with other universities. In the 2021 academic year, the initial competition rate for the first Comprehensive Student Record Screening was 12.72:1, but the actual competition rate considering the yield rate dropped to 4.09:1.
