Sumitomo Chemical Japan to Expand Semiconductor Cleaning Solution Production Capacity by 40%
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Japan's Sumitomo Chemical announced that it plans to expand the production capacity of its semiconductor raw material factory in Korea, Kyodo News reported on the 25th.
According to the report, Sumitomo Chemical announced the day before that it will invest several billion yen (approximately several hundred million won) to increase the production capacity of cleaning chemicals used in semiconductor manufacturing.
The report stated that the factory in the southwestern part of Korea will increase its ammonia water production capacity by about 40%, and the high-purity sulfuric acid production capacity in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, will be doubled.
Ammonia water is used for cleaning in the semiconductor manufacturing process.

Sumitomo Chemical also operates cleaning chemical businesses at two bases in China and is considering strengthening production capacity there as well.
