20.5% of Gyeonggi Residents Fully Vaccinated... 47.4% Received First Dose
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] One in five residents of Gyeonggi Province has completed the COVID-19 vaccination.
Ryu Young-cheol, Director of the Provincial Health and Wellness Bureau, held a regular press conference on the 24th and explained, "As of 6 p.m. on the 23rd, a total of 6,369,865 people (47.4%) in the province have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 2,752,730 people, accounting for 20.5% of the total residents, have completed both doses."
He added, "Vaccination helps prevent the risk of infection and minimizes the chances of severe illness or death even if infected. Especially for unvaccinated individuals aged 60 and over, we urge you to get vaccinated as soon as possible for the health and daily life of yourself and your family."
The vaccination for those aged 50 to 54, which began on the 16th of this month, has so far vaccinated 600,689 out of 1,015,433 eligible people. The first dose is expected to be completed by the 28th. The current vaccination rate is 59.2%.
Vaccination for unvaccinated individuals aged 60 to 74, which started on the 9th, has vaccinated 90,605 out of 370,033 eligible people so far. The vaccination rate is 24.5%. For those aged 75 and older in the province, 624,117 out of 714,665 eligible people have been vaccinated. The vaccination rate is 87.3%.
As of 9 a.m. on the 24th, the pre-registration rate for vaccination among those aged 18 to 49 in the province was 68.6%. The first dose will be administered from the 26th to October 2nd, and additional reservations for those who have not yet registered are possible until September 18th.
