Flight Cancellations of 78 Domestic Flights Including Gimpo and Jeju Airports Due to Typhoon 'Omais' No. 12
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] As Typhoon No. 12 'Omais' approaches closer, numerous domestic flights departing from Gimpo and Jeju Airports have been canceled.
According to Korea Airports Corporation on the 23rd, as of 6 p.m., a total of 78 flights were canceled, including an Air Busan flight departing from Gimpo Airport at 5:35 p.m. to Gimhae Airport, as well as flights to and from Jeju and connecting flights.
The highest number of cancellations was from Jeju Airport with 32 flights (20 to Gimpo, 7 to Gimhae, 2 to Cheongju, and 1 each to Ulsan, Gunsan, and Pohang). This was followed by 29 flights from Gimpo Airport (23 to Jeju, 4 to Gimhae, 2 to Ulsan) and 9 flights from Gimhae Airport (6 to Jeju, 3 to Gimpo).

Currently, a typhoon advisory is in effect at Jeju Airport, where the typhoon is closest. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as of 4 p.m. on the same day, Omais was moving northeast at 42 km/h near the coast approximately 186 km southwest of Seogwipo. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected nationwide until the 24th due to the typhoon and a low-pressure system approaching from the west coast.
