Gwangju Nam-gu Provides Additional 100,000 KRW Support for Low-Income National Subsidies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byung-nae) announced on the 23rd that it will provide an additional 100,000 KRW per person in national support funds to low-income residents struggling due to COVID-19.
This is paid separately from the government's '5th Disaster Support Fund,' which provides 250,000 KRW per person to the bottom 80% of household income earners.
The support targets are basic livelihood security recipients or legally designated second-lowest income bracket as of August 1 of this year. Approximately 15,590 people are expected to benefit.
The support funds will be paid at 100,000 KRW per person into the account of the head of each household on the 24th without a separate application.
However, for low-income residents whose accounts have errors or whose deposit accounts are not identified, additional national support funds will be paid on the 15th of next month.
A Nam-gu official stated, "As the COVID-19 situation prolongs, the economic pressure and difficulties felt by low-income residents are increasing," adding, "We hope that the national support funds provided to ease household burdens will be of some help in overcoming difficult situations and be used in useful ways."
