1753 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed by 9 PM... 17 Fewer Than Previous Day (Comprehensive)

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] As the spread of COVID-19 shows no signs of slowing down, new confirmed cases continued nationwide on the 20th.
According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, a total of 1,753 new confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19 from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day.
This is 17 fewer than the 1,770 cases reported during the same time frame the previous day, and 3 more than the 1,750 cases reported at 9 p.m. last Friday (the 13th).
By region, 1,177 cases (67.1%) were from the metropolitan area, and 576 cases (32.9%) were from non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, the numbers were: Gyeonggi 581, Seoul 507, Gyeongbuk 111, Incheon 89, Gyeongnam 74, Chungnam 73, Busan 60, Jeju 45, Gangwon 39, Chungbuk 37, Daegu 34, Daejeon 26, Ulsan 24, Gwangju 20, Jeonbuk 18, and Jeonnam 15. Confirmed cases were reported in 16 cities and provinces nationwide, excluding Sejong.
Since the count continues until midnight, the number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight on the 21st is expected to increase, reaching at least the high 1,900s to around 2,000. The previous day saw an additional 282 cases after 9 p.m., closing at a total of 2,052 cases.
Major cluster infection cases include 54 confirmed cases related to a market in Jung-gu, Seoul, consisting of 44 workers, 6 family members, and 4 acquaintances. In a hospital case in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi, since the 17th, there have been 23 cases in total: 17 patients, 3 workers, 1 caregiver, and 2 family members. At an air logistics security company in Jung-gu, Incheon, since the 14th, 17 cases were confirmed, including 12 workers and 5 family members.

In non-metropolitan areas, cluster infections were confirmed mainly in rural workplaces in Nonsan-si, Chungnam (36 cumulative cases), sports facilities in Haeundae-gu, Busan (29 cases), and PC rooms in Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk (25 cases).
