Netflix Officially Supports Spatial Audio for AirPods Pro and Max on iOS14
IT Specialist Foreign Media 9toMac Report
Positive Response from Communities and YouTubers in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Apple's 'AirPods Pro' and 'AirPods Max' spatial audio feature can now be used when watching Netflix content on Apple devices running operating system (OS) iOS 14 or later.
IT specialized media 9to5Mac reported on the 18th (local time) that "a Netflix spokesperson officially responded that spatial audio support has started on iPhones and iPads with iOS 14."
Apple's spatial audio feature supports 3D surround sound by tracking the user's head position, providing an immersive experience as if in a movie theater. This technology was first introduced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2020 and has been applied not only to AirPods Pro but also to the AirPods Max released earlier this year.
Previously, the spatial audio feature was only available through AirPods Pro or AirPods Max when watching certain apps such as Apple Music, Apple TV, and domestic services like Watcha. Now, it can also be used on Netflix. It is expected to be especially useful when watching videos with 'Dolby Atmos' sound technology applied.
The supported devices include iPhone 7 and later models, and iPad models such as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 3rd generation or later, 11-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 3rd generation or later, iPad 6th generation or later, and iPad mini 5th generation.
