Naju-si Conducts 'Preemptive Comprehensive Testing by Apartment Complex' to Block COVID-19
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) is starting proactive, on-site mass testing by apartment complex to block the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant, centered around Bitgaram Innovation City.
The city announced on the 17th that it will operate temporary on-site screening clinics for COVID testing at all 19 apartment complexes (15,634 households) in Bitgaram-dong until the 30th.
The testing schedule is as follows: starting with LH1~2 complexes, LH3~4 on the 18th, LH5~6 on the 19th, Woori-rin and Booyoung 1 complex (Rubenheim) on the 20th, Booyoung 2~3 on the 23rd, Youngmu Yedam and Daekwang Rosebiang on the 24th, Jungheung 1~2 on the 25th, Jungheung 3 (Liberty) and Easy The One on the 26th, Daebang Elyum 1~2 on the 27th, and Inocity Essiang on the 30th.
Testing will be conducted in two sessions at open spaces in front of each apartment management office from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Since the first confirmed case in Naju in February last year, 144 confirmed cases have been reported as of this month (based on the previous day).
Especially due to the fast transmission speed of the Delta variant, 23 confirmed cases have occurred consecutively this month alone.
Among these, Bitgaram-dong, which has the largest population (38,682 people) and the most apartment complexes, has seen a total of 57 confirmed cases, including 13 this month, indicating a continuing spread and requiring proactive quarantine management.
Previously, following confirmed cases in an apartment in Songwol-dong on the 15th, the health authorities conducted mass testing of about 700 people through temporary screening clinics.
The city is encouraging resident participation through dispatching 10 specimen collection personnel, broadcasting by apartment complex, and cooperation with resident associations and community councils for smooth testing.
Test results will be notified individually via text message either the evening of the test day or the following morning at the earliest.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “We ask for residents’ active participation and cooperation in operating these on-site screening clinics by apartment complex. Especially, citizens who have visited other regions during the vacation period should be sure to get tested at the nearest screening clinic.”
