Chuncheon City Hall Employee Confirmed Positive, Full Inspection of Main Office... Some Departments Switch to Remote Work
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] During the Liberation Day holiday period from the 14th to the 16th, a total of 98 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Gangwon-do, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province to over 5,000.
According to Gangwon-do health authorities, as of 7 PM on the day, the new confirmed cases were 6 in Donghae, 5 in Wonju, 4 in Chuncheon, 3 each in Sokcho and Gangneung, 2 each in Hongcheon and Jeongseon, and 1 in Yangyang.
In Donghae, 4 foreigners classified as contacts at the workplace were tested positive, along with 1 foreigner who was in self-quarantine and 1 Korean national.
In Wonju, 3 foreigners who entered from overseas tested positive, and the other 2 cases were confirmed positive through contact tracing and pre-release testing, respectively.
In Sokcho, 1 case was confirmed positive after retesting, and 2 cases came from other regions. In Gangneung, 2 foreigners and 1 Korean national in quarantine were infected.
In Chuncheon, 4 people tested positive, including 3 who were in self-quarantine and 1 who was tested due to symptom onset.
Notably, on the 14th, a Chuncheon City Hall employee tested positive, leading to testing of about 850 employees at the main office over two days.
Among them, 2 confirmed employees were admitted to treatment facilities, and 27 employees who had close contact with the confirmed cases entered self-quarantine.
Additionally, 156 employees with overlapping movement paths are currently classified as active monitors and will undergo retesting on the 22nd.
To minimize administrative gaps, Chuncheon City distributed laptops to self-quarantined employees on the day and decided to implement remote work starting from the 17th.
Gangwon Land, where 17 confirmed cases were reported, closed its casino operations from 10 AM on the day until 6 AM on the 18th and began disinfection.
In the Gangwon region, 31 cases were reported on the first day of the holiday, the 14th, 41 on the 15th, and 26 so far on the current day, totaling 98 cases, averaging 32 new cases per day.
