The Gyeongnam Police Agency announced on the 16th that 107 reports related to quarantine rule violations were received from the 9th to the 15th. The police, together with local government officials, conducted joint inspections of 338 entertainment facilities and cracked down on 15 cases involving 100 people.
In Changwon, where the COVID-19 spread is severe and level 4 social distancing has been extended until the 29th, 17 customers were caught enjoying entertainment in a nighttime karaoke room in violation of quarantine rules.
Currently in Changwon, private gatherings of three or more people are prohibited after 6 p.m., and administrative orders banning gatherings have been issued for entertainment facilities, karaoke rooms, and similar venues.
However, on the 13th at around 11:30 p.m., these individuals were caught enjoying entertainment at a karaoke room in Changwon. The police plan to investigate 20 people, including 17 customers and 3 business owners and employees, for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
This crackdown was initiated following a 112 emergency call from consumer food hygiene inspectors recently appointed by Changwon City. In particular, the business owner will be additionally charged and investigated for selling alcohol while operating the karaoke room.
In Gimhae, 14 foreigners were caught in large numbers while holding a birthday party. On the 14th at around 11 p.m., they gathered on the third floor of a house in Gimhae, violating the ban on private gatherings of three or more people, and held a birthday party.
Among them, two were confirmed to be undocumented immigrants and were handed over to the immigration office. The remaining 12 violators are expected to be fined.
On the night of the 12th at around 9 p.m., 11 foreigners drinking at a Danranju bar in Miryang were caught violating the gathering ban. Including the business owner, 12 people are expected to be fined.

Currently, social distancing level 3 is in effect throughout Gyeongnam, while in Changwon and Gimhae, where the spread is severe, level 4 has been extended until the 29th, and in Haman until the 22nd.
