Gwangju Buk-gu Uses Latest ICT Technology to Solve Citizen Inconveniences
Selected for Smart City Service Project Competition... Secured 500 Million KRW in Project Funding
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 16th that it has secured 500 million KRW in project funds after being selected for the ‘2021 Smart City Service Project’ contest hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City.
This contest project was prepared to solve citizens’ inconveniences in daily life such as traffic and safety by utilizing the latest ICT (Information and Communication Technology) technologies.
Buk-gu, noting that citizens spend a lot of time wandering to find parking spaces and that parking problems caused by illegal parking are one of the major inconveniences in daily life, plans to establish a parking sharing platform incorporating artificial intelligence recognition technology by February 2022.
The main contents include ▲ development of an AI-based parking recognition system and parking sharing/navigation app ▲ collection of CCTV control data ▲ provision of real-time parking information by parking lot type (tower type, roadside type, alley type), etc.
In the future, the district plans to promote a pilot project, analyze the resulting data, improve problems, contribute to solving urban parking issues, develop a standardized parking sharing system, and expand it as a nationwide model.
Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “We will continue to actively discover and expand public services based on information and communication technology in areas closely related to citizens’ lives.”
