‘Premium Damyang Strawberry High Value-Added and Export Platform Establishment Project’
100 Billion Won Invested, Expansion of Smart Seedling Facilities by 2024
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 11th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the "Premium Damyang Strawberry High Value-Added and Export Platform Construction Project" was finally selected in the 2022 Jeonnam-type Regional Growth Strategic Project contest.
The Jeonnam-type Regional Growth Strategic Project is a contest project that selects strategic projects suited to regional characteristics, strengthens the autonomous development capabilities of cities and counties, and supports projects with high sustainability and scalability in the future.
The selected Damyang-gun project, "Premium Damyang Strawberry High Value-Added and Export Platform Construction Project," aims to secure nationwide competitiveness by integrating the entire process from seedling stages of self-developed Jukhyang, Maryqueen, and Damhyang strawberries to smart farm production, processing, and distribution stages.
The project plans to invest 10 billion KRW from next year until 2024 to expand smart seedling facilities within Damyang-gun, establish a Damyang Strawberry Glocal platform through stable strawberry production, processing, distribution, and export traceability management, and create an innovative model of digital agriculture.
The county expects that upon completion of this project, it will bring a virtuous cycle to the local economy through increased farm income due to enhanced brand value of Damyang agricultural products and various experiential tourism programs linked with local tourist attractions.
