Lee Jae-myung "COVID-19 cases surpass 2,000... Please unite once again"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, urged once again to unite efforts as the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases surpassed 2,000.
On the 11th, Lee posted on Twitter, "The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has exceeded 2,000," and expressed, "As one of the persons responsible for quarantine, I apologize to the residents and the public."
He continued, "I will fulfill the duties entrusted to me to overcome this crisis quickly," and asked, "Although the wave of the pandemic is high, please trust the government and unite once more for your family, neighbors, and community."
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, as of midnight on the same day, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases was counted at 2,223, surpassing 2,000 for the first time.
President Moon Jae-in also stated at the Blue House staff meeting that morning, "Despite the sacrificial cooperation of the people and the efforts of the quarantine authorities, the daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has exceeded 2,000, which is a cause for great concern."
