Im Se-eun, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, stated on the 11th, "President Moon will attend the ‘4th Anniversary Health Insurance Achievement Report Meeting’ at the Blue House at 11 a.m. on the 12th to review the achievements of strengthening health insurance coverage over the past four years and to report the plans for further enhancement of coverage to the public."
The report will be conducted non-face-to-face, and President Moon will listen to the participants' reports and presentations via video from the Blue House main building.
Deputy Spokesperson Im explained, "In his opening remarks, President Moon will reflect on the government's efforts to create a ‘strong country without worries about hospital bills’ and how health insurance has functioned as a pillar of healthcare even amid the COVID-19 crisis, emphasizing the continuous promotion of measures to strengthen coverage."
Following President Moon’s opening remarks, Kim Yong-ik, Chairman of the National Health Insurance Service, will report on the achievements of the health insurance coverage enhancement measures. Detailed results showing how 37 million citizens have reduced their household medical expenses by 9.2 trillion won will be announced.
Deputy Spokesperson Im said, "There will be explanations on major supports that the public can feel, such as infertility treatments, children's cavity treatments, and treatments for patients with severe dementia," adding, "presenters will include individuals who received help through strengthened coverage for cleft lip and palate corrective treatment, those who struggled with severe atopic dermatitis, and athlete In Gyo-don, who overcame severe cancer (lymphoma) and won a bronze medal in Taekwondo at the Tokyo Olympics."
