"Beam Projector Sales Up 120%"... Tmon Launches Special Event Targeting 'Homecanceok'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] As the COVID-19 resurgence continues, more people are refraining from outdoor activities and enjoying summer vacations at home, becoming part of the 'homecance' trend.
According to TMON on the 11th, sales of homecance-related products from July 12, when the intense heat began, to August 1, showed a significant increase compared to the same period last year. Sales of bath and water play products rose by 229%, with indoor pool-related products increasing sharply by 291%. This is interpreted as a rise in demand for enjoying a 'home-terpark' at home instead of visiting water parks.
Changes in trends for products related to restrictions on gathering facilities such as movie theaters and gyms are also noticeable. Sales of beam projectors, which allow enjoying movies on a large screen at home, increased by 120% compared to the previous year, and sales of blackout curtains rose by 68%.
Sales of home training equipment to compensate for lack of exercise also surged. Hula hoops, which can be easily enjoyed with children, increased by 182% compared to the same period last year. Step machines, which provide the effects of hiking or stair climbing conveniently at home, saw sales skyrocket by 672%.
In response to these lifestyle changes, TMON is supporting homecance with a special event called 'Wise Home Life.' It offers a variety of products to enjoy at home, including homewear, home care, home cafe, home training, ready meals, interior goods, hobbies, and gaming devices, all at special prices. The event runs until the 22nd.
