Samsung Engineering and DIG Airgas Join Forces to Strengthen Competitiveness in Industrial Nitrogen Production
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Samsung Engineering is joining hands with DIG Airgas to strengthen competitiveness in nitrogen production, a key industrial gas.
Samsung Engineering announced on the 11th that it has signed a business partnership agreement with DIG Airgas for the 'Development of Standard Design Documents for ASU (Air Separation Unit) and Joint Business Execution.' The signing ceremony held at Samsung Engineering headquarters was attended by No Hee-kwon, Head of Engineering Division at Samsung Engineering, and Lee Jae-hak, Head of Technology Division at DIG Airgas, among other officials.
Through this agreement, Samsung Engineering and DIG Airgas plan to jointly develop a standard design package for nitrogen (N₂) production facilities ASU (Air Separation Unit), which is the most frequently used scale for industrial purposes, and apply it to actual projects in the future.

Nitrogen is an industrial gas widely used across all industries such as refining, petrochemicals, display, semiconductors, tires, food manufacturing, and steelmaking due to its low reactivity. It is also the raw material for ammonia-urea fertilizer, the most popular fertilizer. The two companies expect that once the standard package development is completed, early confirmation of design information will be possible, enabling project schedule reduction and cost savings.
The synergy effect of the two companies, which possess experience, technology, and operational know-how for ASU plants, is also expected to be maximized. Samsung Engineering has abundant experience and technology in constructing ASU plants in the Middle East, South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, while DIG Airgas is the only domestic company possessing original ASU technology, producing and selling industrial and specialty gases based on this core technology. Through this collaboration, both companies plan to actively share and utilize their respective networks and technologies.
