Naju City to Recruit Additional Residents for 'Naju Haksa' Dormitory in Seoul
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 9th that it will additionally recruit residents for the ‘Naju Dormitory’ established in Naebalsan-dong, Seoul, to ensure housing stability for students entering universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul and Gyeonggi.
The Naju Dormitory was established in 2014 in Naebalsan-dong, Seoul, with the Seoul Metropolitan Government providing the site and construction costs borne by eight local governments nationwide. It has a total of 193 rooms and various facilities such as a fitness center, club rooms, computer rooms, lounges, and guest rooms.
The additional recruitment is for a total of 16 people (8 males and 8 females, 2 per room) and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the quota is filled.
Eligibility requires that, as of the application date, the applicant or their guardian must have been continuously registered as a resident in Naju City for more than one year and be enrolled in a two-year or higher university located in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Students who are expelled, suspended, or on leave of absence are excluded from eligibility.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form posted on the city hall website and submitting it in person or by mail to the Innovation City Education Division.
Successful applicants will be announced on the 17th on the city hall website’s public notice section after screening based on graduation status from local schools, academic performance, and living conditions.
After the announcement, residents must pay a monthly dormitory fee of 120,000 KRW (excluding meal costs) to the dormitory management office within two weeks to use the facilities until the end of the academic year.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “We will do our best to manage and support the dormitory operation so that students entering universities in the metropolitan area can focus on their studies without worrying about housing costs.”
