Yeongam-gun Begins Operation of Public Bus Terminal
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it approved the final closure of the existing Yeongam Bus Terminal operator, who applied for closure due to business deterioration, on the 3rd, and to minimize inconvenience to residents, the county will begin operating the Yeongam Bus Terminal from the 9th.
The Yeongam Bus Terminal, the gateway to Yeongam-gun, is located in Nampung-ri, Yeongam-eup. The waiting room, ticket office, bus stops, parking lot, and shops were operated by a private individual, but due to a decrease in bus passengers caused by COVID-19 and accumulated deficits, the operator gave up running the terminal.
To minimize inconvenience to residents and ensure stable operation, the county leased the bus terminal facilities and plans to hire five employees for management, ticketing, cleaning, and other necessary operations.
A thorough cleaning of the old and deteriorated waiting room and restrooms has been conducted, and the bus parking platform and terminal bus stop lane markings have been completed. Environmental maintenance is underway, including replacing faded signposts and information boards.
