Yongdu Port, the target site of the application, is known as a hidden gem of Suncheon Bay, famous for its beautiful sunsets and Garimat clam, attracting many ecological explorers.
The tidal flats around Yongdu Port produce seafood such as Garimat clam, Chilgae crab, and Jjangttungeo mudskipper. In particular, Yongdu Garimat clams are a representative local seafood product that is exported even to the discerning Japanese market, playing a significant role as an income resource for fishermen.
The city has a strong determination to utilize and connect these high-quality marine resources and surrounding conditions well, understand the potential and characteristics of Yongdu Port, and contribute to increasing fishermen’s income through cooperation with fishermen by challenging the ‘Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project’ application.
Especially, the residents of Yongdu Village, who were eliminated from last year’s Fishing Village New Deal Project application, have higher enthusiasm and expectations than ever for this reapplication.
