Beautiful Sharing Events Continue Throughout Dongjak-gu
Sangdo 2-dong, Noryangjin 1·2-dong Hold Sharing Event for Low-Income Vulnerable Groups, Providing Side Dishes, Summer Blankets, and Easy Health Foods to Residents to Overcome Heatwave and COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Warm-hearted stories for neighbors in need are overflowing throughout Dongjak-gu.
The Sangdo 2-dong Community Service Center held an event titled ‘Supporting a Healthy Summer: Sharing Side Dishes and Blankets’ for 90 low-income households.
This event provided nutritious side dishes and cool summer blankets to vulnerable groups such as low-income elderly living alone, helping them stay healthy and cool during the ongoing heatwave. Side dishes were delivered to a total of 50 households, and blankets to 40 households.
Considering the heatwave and COVID-19 situation, after careful discussion, the community service center distributed the items in time slots, and for those with mobility difficulties, welfare planners personally visited to deliver the support items in a non-face-to-face manner.
Recipients of the items expressed their gratitude, saying, “I was exhausted from the heat and COVID, but I am thankful that the community service center provided side dishes and summer blankets like this.” The event received high praise from those who have difficulty preparing meals alone and residents worn out by the heat.
Meanwhile, the Noryangjin 1 and 2-dong Community Service Centers, together with members of the local community security council, directly delivered masks and easy-to-prepare samgyetang and galbitang to a total of 280 low-income elderly households, also checking on their well-being to support a healthy summer.
