According to the Ministry of Education on the 5th, from the 29th of last month to the 4th of this month, the daily average number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide was 810, with a daily average of 115.7 cases.
The number of student cases in the previous week was 884, with a daily average of 126.3, showing a decrease of 74 cases and 10.6 cases per day, but the numbers remain in the 100s. The cumulative number of confirmed student cases this semester is 9,687.
The number of confirmed student cases by region is as follows: ▲Gyeonggi 200 ▲Seoul 121 ▲Daegu 73 ▲Daejeon 70 ▲Gyeongnam 67 ▲Chungnam 48 ▲Busan 41 ▲Gyeongbuk 29 ▲Gangwon 28 ▲Chungbuk 24 ▲Jeonbuk 18 ▲Gwangju 16 ▲Jeju 15.
In the past week, 96 faculty and staff members were confirmed positive, with a daily average of 13.7 cases. The cumulative number of confirmed faculty and staff cases this semester is 1,284.
As of 10 a.m. on the day, out of 20,512 schools nationwide, 20,140 schools (98.2%) have started their vacation. 99 schools (0.5%) conducted remote classes.
In the metropolitan area, 7,768 schools, 7,680 schools (98.9%) have started summer vacation. 66 schools (0.8%) conducted remote classes.
