[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, investigating allegations of real estate speculation involving public officials and employees of public institutions in Gangwon Province, has identified another suspected case of speculation in the Gangneung Yucheon district.
On the 5th, according to the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, during the investigation related to speculation allegations in the Gangneung Yucheon district, an additional employee of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) suspected of speculation was booked.
The police are securing additional evidence and conducting reinforced investigations regarding the related cases, having booked about 10 people related to speculation in the Yucheon district. Additionally, among 13 closed cases, one person was detained, and four were booked without detention and sent to the prosecution.
So far, the Gangwon police have completed preliminary investigations or investigations on 45 people across 20 cases, including public officials and employees of public institutions, with seven cases still ongoing?three under investigation and four under preliminary investigation.
The subjects of the preliminary and formal investigations include 10 public officials, 11 employees of public institutions such as the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and 3 civilians, totaling 24 people. Among them, 19 were booked, and 15 were cleared without charges after preliminary investigations.
